This workout is an entry to this year’s Bootcamp Ideas Competition. It has been submitted by Johannes Chun of Kinsei-Do Fitness.
The HIIT Buffet
Drill Length: 10-15 minutes
Equipment Needed: Mats, Cones, Exercise Selection (see below)
Set Up
Place a cone or other object about 30 to 50m away from where your group will do their exercises (e.g. where their yoga mats are).
Write a selection of exercises (example attached) and reps on a piece of paper and place it by the cone.
The Drill
Once the timer starts, every participant runs to the cone, chooses an exercise that they will do, runs back to their base/mat and performs the exercise. This goes on until the time is up (usually 10 or 12 minutes).
Like at an actual buffet, participants are free to choose whichever dish/exercise they want, i.e. they can go through the entire menu of options, or repeat the same exercise every time.
As long as maximum effort is involved, it won’t make much of a difference!
Variations
To make it easier or harder, you can increase or decrease the distance from the mat to the cone, or simply choose harder exercises, this workout is very adaptable!

Wow i really like the look of this one. I have small groups of ladies all at different fitness levels. I am going to try it out on Thursday!
I did this one this morning. We did a circuit (45 secs on, 15 secs off) for two rounds, then I bundled up all the exercises plus a few extra and wrote the number of reps on them (I have laminated place markers) and did the HIIT Buffet as a finisher. It was a winner! I will definitely use this one again! Thank you!
Thank you Louise, glad you and your group liked it! 🙂
