This workout is an entry to this year’s Bootcamp Ideas Competition. It has been submitted by Casey Foggitt from Texas, USA.
Musical Squares
Drill Length: 10 minutes
Drill Category: Finisher
Equipment needed: Chalk, Exercise Cards
How it works:
Depending on how many campers you have in attendance, choose enough exercises for everyone. For example, if you have 10 in attendance, choose 10 exercises such as:
- High Knees
- Burpees
- Jump Squats
- Power Jacks
- Vertical Jumps
- Push Ups
- Plank Jacks
- Floor Sprints
- Tuck Jumps
- Dips
Using chalk to draw out squares -or- mats with cones identifying the exercises, make a huge square (I call them game boards), placing the exercise squares at least 2 feet away from each other. Everyone starts off on an exercise square, then when the music starts, they move clockwise around the game board. When the music stops, they have to complete the exercise on the square they’ve landed on until you start the music again. Once you start the music, they go around until you stop the music again. The rule is that no one can pass the person in front of them and no more than one person is allowed on a square. Being a finisher, it should be fast paced, starting and stopping the music quickly. Of course no one ever wants to land on the Burpee square!
