This workout is an entry to this year’s Bootcamp Ideas Competition. It has been submitted by Genevieve Barnard from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
Musical Planks
Drill Length: 5 to 10 minutes
Drill Category: Finisher
Equipment needed: Paper Plates, Cones
How it works:
Sweet and Simple, but loads of fun and we finish on a high! Based on “Musical Chairs”.
Bring 1 paper plate per Boot CAMPER.
Choose your sprint distance: 10 to 80 meters away.
Randomly place all your paper plates in a long line at your sprint marker.
Boot Campers line up at start in plank position.
Music starts, stay in plank.
I choose when to PAUSE the music. (ie: I therefore choose how long they must plank for).
On Pause – Boot Campers (from Plank to Sprint) race to place a foot on a plate.
Boot Campers walk/jog back to start line.
Repeat cycle, each time taking 1 or 3 plates away per sprint.
Finish with a Plank Sprint Winner!
About Genevieve:
I am from Sunny South Africa, I started my first Boot Camp in 2012, and cried buckets when I had to sell up in 2014 as we relocated to start an orphanage. (BOOT CAMP was family and business was the bonus!).
Our orphanage is now up and running and I have been able to get back to Boot Camp just last year and started a new one in our rural community! After hectic busy days, Bootcamp Ideas is my saving grace for inspiration, encouragement and ideas!!!! Facebook Page: Bundo Boot Camp
Kyle Wood created Bootcamp Ideas in 2010 when he was hunting around on the internet for workout ideas. He ran a successful bootcamp in Victoria, Australia and spends his spare time managing this site, adventuring (or lazying) with his wife and find new ways to make bootcamps even better.
love it! I will do this in my next class. I will write a different exercise on each paper plate for the bootcampers to do before returning back to plank
