Hello, from where ever you are in the world! How are things in your neck of the woods? I’m ‘enjoying‘ a ‘lovely‘ Melbourne Winter… which actually means I’m in Lockdown 5.0 and able to spend a good amount of time helping Kyle out with things on BootCraft.
It’s been a busy month over at BootCraft (our ever growing database of drills and workouts for trainers such as yourself – and a thriving Community of heart-centered trainers from around the world). This month we’ve got a bunch of new workouts to share with you, a wrap up of June’s ‘Workouts of the Week’ and some highlights from the BootCraft community.
And, in exciting news, we’ll hit publish on our 1000th drill in BootCraft over the next three weeks – and I hope this post provides a little taster of what those drills can include for you.
1. Previously on BootCraft…
In June we asked the fabulous Niki J. Torres, hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, to write some drills for us. Most of the time, the BootCraft drills are written by our team of Master Crafters (more on them below), but occasionally we will feature the work of one trainer over the course of a month. No prizes for guessing that we call these amazing people our Featured Designers!
We have had 25 Featured Designers from all around the world over the past couple of years and we love the depth, breadth and variety that their drills add to the collection. So, here are the 12 drills that Niki wrote for us in June:
- Between Two Chairs
- Strength + Mobility Supersets
- Hats Off To You
- Getting To Know You Supersets
- Watery EMOM
- Wheel Of Fitness
- Pass It Down, Add It Up
- Spinner, Spinner, Chicken Dinner
- Strength + Mobility Mash Up
- Dunk It AMRAPs
- Mobility, Strength and Core Mini Circuits
- Christmas In July – The (Re)Gift of Fitness
2. July on BootCraft
I’m sure there is a terribly outdated joke about a Canadian, an Australian and a guy from the UAE walking into a bar somewhere… However, rather than that, what wanted to do is to introduce you to our team of Master Crafters – trainers from Canada, Australia, the UAE, the USA and the UK!
These trainers provide a variety of drills from their own archives to BootCraft each month, so that ‘Crafters (that’s what we call our BootCraft subscribers) can keep abreast of what is happening around the world – and isn’t that so important now, more than ever! It also means that no matter what style of session delivery you find yourself having to adapt to, we have drills in BootCraft to suit – from online/virtual, to physically distanced face to face sessions and to ‘regular’ face to face sessions.
So, in July, our BootCraft drills are a collective effort from our team of Master Crafters, plus three bonus drills from the archives of Kyle Wood. These include:
- After The Roll
- Circuit Slayer
- Fire It Up
- Partner Resisted Sprints
- Tennis Ball Sprints
- Square Drill
- Walk The Walk
- Add It Up, Work It Out
- Full Body Burn
- You Decide, Drop It Off
- It’s 2 Hot
- Cardio Mix Up
3. Workouts Of The Week
WOW – these are one of the new features to BootCraft, and we’ve had really great feedback on them.
Kyle posts these weekly ‘done-for-you’ workouts into the BootCraft Community (the private, online space where our ‘Crafters hang out) and are perfect for when you need a high-quality session on the fly. Kyle explains the workouts for our ‘Crafters in a video, and goes into detail about why particular drills were chosen, how to adapt and what the drill can look like in real life.
He’s put together quite a few now, and he’s even given each workout a cool name – we’ve had The Chipper Fitness Test, Leg + Core Builder, Army Bootcamp, Need For Speed, 10 x 5, Big Oval Circuit, Decathlon 2.0 and HAMRAP. That’s seven ‘done-for-you’ workouts, ready to go!
Here’s an example of one of his explanations:
4. BootCraft Community
Alright, so I’ve mentioned the BootCraft Community a bit now. But what exactly is it?
Well, for me (as a sole-trading, small business Personal Trainer), it’s a bit like working in a big gym where I get to collaborate with the most amazing group of like-minded trainers. It’s a private, online community available to all our ‘Crafters – a place where we can share our favourite workout ideas (we’ve all been sharing our favourite finishers over the past week or so, Richie shared a great Scouts Honour drill and Janice shared a fun Canada Day workout), ask ANY questions (we’ve helped Karen come up with good newsletter content, while also helping Kjell get her head around purchasing a gym!) and share our wins (like Yvonne, who has been nominated for a national award!)
We think the BootCraft Community are pretty amazing – their generous sharing of ideas and advice adds so much value to what is already a comprehensive resource.
So before I leave you, I’d just really quickly like to give you the link to have a look at the BootCraft information page – to see more for yourself, or to share it with another trainer who you think might like to have a look.
That’s it for this month. Like I said at the start, I hope things are going well for you and your sessions!
