Welcome trainers, to the 4th Annual Bootcamp Ideas Competition!
The Annual Bootcamp Ideas Competition is a chance for trainers from all around the world (including you) to put their workouts out there to other trainers.
As a community of trainers, we then take the workouts we like the look of and use them at our sessions. Then we vote on the one’s we liked the most.
Prizes are given to our favourites and also randomly chosen so anyone who enters successfully has a chance to win.
How To Enter
Contestants will submit one of their favourite workouts in the proper format (see below) via our Facebook Group. Voting will then be conducted by the Bootcamp Ideas readers and our judges.
Successful entrants will be posted as they come in on Bootcamp Ideas for everyone to check out.
To be a successful entrant your workout should follow (at least closely) the format outlines below. Any unusual exercises should have links to a video demo or a thorough explanation.
I know a lot of you write your workouts in shorthand, I do the same, please expand them into long hand before submitting your entry.

Other Awards
There are several awards we like to hand out that don’t come with prizes, just bragging rights. Here they are:
- Trainer’s Choice: Given to the highest voted workout drill.
- Best Fitness Test: Given to the best fitness test.
- Most Creative Workout: Given to the workout that really stands out as something unique.
- Best Boxing Workout: Given to the best workout that uses boxing.
- Best Teambuilder: Given to the best workout that makes good use of teambuilding elements.
Plus, I might just make up a new award if I think a workout is worth it. I also might not give out one of the above awards if none of the entries fit the category.
You’re just going to have to live with my pedantic nature.
How to Format Your Workout for Entry
Each workout should be formatted like any you would find on Bootcamp Ideas.
Warm ups are not required but an awesome warm up may swing the voters to choose your workout.
Create subheadings if your workout has multiple parts.
Check for typos!
Expand any shorthand you have used to full length. Acronym’s like AMRAP and EMOM are acceptable though.
Last but not least, give your workout a name!
Your workout will be posted more or less as is so the clearer it is to follow, the better chances you have of winning!
Be sure to use the hashtag #competitionentry2017 so I know it’s an entry.
You can copy the following, paste it into Facebook and then just fill out the details (works best on a computer). You can delete everything in parenthesis.
#competitionentry2017
Workout Name: (please give your workout an awesome name)
Workout Length: 30 minutes/45 minutes/60 minutes (delete incorrect times)
Workout Category: Strength/HIT/Fun/Cardio/Teamwork/Partner/Boxing (delete incorrect categories)
Workout:
(paste actual workout here)
About me: (write a few lines about you and your business)
Website: (optional)
What I won’t accept:
- Other people’s workouts (without their permission). I know we tend to see and adapt off of other peoples workouts so there will always be some overlap, that’s fine. However I won’t accept a workout that has been pretty much copied from someone’s blog post, book or membership site.
- Workouts that are too basic. By this I mean if your workout is a list of 30 exercises done for a minute each or a circuit done 3 times for a minute each, I won’t accept it. The beauty of these competitions is sharing stuff that is fresh and new and can be used by other trainers. Try to share something unique.
- Poorly formatted. If your workout is written in short hand or there are a lot of typo’s that make it hard to understand.
In any of these cases, I won’t just reject you like an a**hole, I’ll probably just ask you to submit a new idea or make your existing one clearer so keep an eye on your entry for that.
Voting
Voting will begin on Thursday afternoon of March 9th 2017 so you have a week from the date of this post to get your entries in.
The winner will be judged by both the voting from the readers and by the judges who consists of a select group of trainers (including those donating prizes). Combining the two methods means someone will not just win because they have the most Facebook friends who voted for them.
The two Lucky Runners Up will actually be drawn randomly out of a hat from the remaining entrants. So anyone who puts themselves out there and enters has a chance to win!
The winner and lucky runner ups will be announced on Monday March 20th at midday AEST here on the blog and on Facebook (I’ll also email you). This will give us time to test out which workouts we like.
Submit your entry here:
Please submit your entry using the formatting above via our Facebook Group. If you’re not a member, request to join first and one of our admins will accept you.
Entries close Monday March 9th 2017 at midday AEST. A maximum of 25 entries will be accepted, first in best dressed. This is to stop it from being way too overwhelming in choice.
Last competition the entries filled in 48 hours so make sure you get in fast.
As mentioned entries will be posted on Bootcamp Ideas as we get them so the sooner you post, the more people who will probably see your workout and get to try it out.
Special thanks
Many thanks to Dale Sidebottom from Bottoms Up Fitness for donating prizes.
Kyle Wood created Bootcamp Ideas in 2010 when he was hunting around on the internet for workout ideas. He ran a successful bootcamp in Victoria, Australia and spends his spare time managing this site, adventuring (or lazying) with his wife and find new ways to make bootcamps even better.
