The competition is over for this year: here are the winners!
Welcome trainers, to the 5th Annual Bootcamp Ideas Competition!
The Annual Bootcamp Ideas Competition is a yearly hunt for some great new workout ideas and it’s a chance for you to share with the community your favourite workout creations.
As a community of trainers, we’ll test out the workouts we like the look of and try them out at our sessions. Then we’ll vote on the one’s we liked the most.
Prizes are given to our favourites and there is also a random giveaway so anyone who’s entry is accepted has a chance to win.
Don’t hesitate to enter, you might just win!
Please read everything below before entering.
This Year’s Theme: Finishers and Warm Ups
Last year we took any and all types of workout ideas (which made for some fun awards like the Best Cricket Inspired Idea) but this year I’ve asked what the community is looking for and what I got back was:
‘We always need good warm up and finisher ideas.’
So this year there will be two categories, Finishers and Warm Ups. You can enter both but you can only enter each category once.
Entries will also need to be 10 minutes or less in duration.
Definitions:
Finisher:
A finisher drill is typically done at the end of the workout and is usually quite high intensity. It’s designed to have leave campers on a high whether that’s from working as a team, doing something fun, getting the heart rate up or a combination of all three.
Warm Up:
A warm up drill is, as it sounds, designed to help clients warm up. We’re looking for fun and interesting ways to do this. Thought should be put into the fact that this is designed for warming up so the intensity should be appropriate.
How To Enter
Contestants will submit one of their favourite Finishers and/or Warm Ups in the proper format (see below) via our Facebook Group. Voting will then be conducted by the Bootcamp Ideas readers and our judges.
Successful entrants will be posted as they come in on Bootcamp Ideas for everyone to check out.
To be a successful entrant your workout should follow (at least closely) the format outlines below. Any unusual exercises should have links to a video demo or a thorough explanation.
I know a lot of you write your workouts in shorthand, I do the same, please expand them into long hand before submitting your entry. Take the time to be as clear as possible.
We have had some great entries in the past that did not to well simply because trainers didn’t understand them in the way they were written.

Other Awards
There are several awards we like to hand out that don’t come with prizes, just bragging rights. Here they are:
- Trainer’s Choice: Given to the highest voted workout drill.
- Most Creative Workout: Given to the workout that really stands out as something unique.
- Best Boxing Drill: Given to the best drill that uses boxing.
- Best Teambuilder: Given to the best workout that makes good use of teambuilding elements.
Plus, I might just make up a new award if I think a workout is worth it. I also might not give out one of the above awards if none of the entries fit the category.
You’re just going to have to live with my pedantic nature.
How to Format Your Workout for Entry
Each entry should be formatted like any you would find on Bootcamp Ideas.
Some things to check before submitting:
- Create subheadings if your workout has multiple parts.
- Check for typos!
- Expand any shorthand you have used to full length. Acronym’s like AMRAP and EMOM are acceptable though.
- Last but not least, give your drill a name!
Your workout will be posted to Bootcamp Ideas more or less as is so the clearer it is to follow, the better chances you have of winning!
Be sure to use the hashtag #competitionentry2018 so I know it’s an entry.
You can copy the following, paste it into Facebook and then just fill out the details (works best on a computer). You can delete everything in parenthesis.
#competitionentry2018
Drill Name: (please give your drill an awesome name)
Drill Length: eg. 5 minutes
Drill Category: Warm Up/Finisher
How it works:
(paste your drill description here)
About me: (write a few lines about you and your business)
Website: (optional – at URL here)
Important: What I won’t accept:
- Other people’s workouts (without their permission). I know we tend to see and adapt off of other peoples workouts so there will always be some overlap, that’s fine. However I won’t accept a workout that has been pretty much copied from someone’s blog post, book or membership site.
- Workouts that are too basic. By this I mean if your workout is a list of 30 exercises done for a minute each or a circuit done 3 times for a minute each, I won’t accept it. The beauty of these competitions is sharing stuff that is fresh and new and can be used by other trainers. Try to share something unique.
- Poorly formatted. If your workout is written in short hand or there are a lot of typo’s that make it hard to understand.
In any of these cases, I won’t just reject you like an a**hole, I’ll probably just ask you to submit a new idea or make your existing one clearer so keep an eye on your entry for that.
Voting
Voting will begin on Monday afternoon of March 12th 2018 so you have about two weeks from the date of this post to get your entries in.
The winners will be judged by both the voting from the readers and by the judges who consists of a select group of trainers (including those donating prizes). Combining the two methods means someone will not just win because they have the most Facebook friends who voted for them.
The Random Draw will be drawn randomly out of a hat from the remaining entrants. So anyone who puts themselves out there and enters has a chance to win!
All winners will be announced on Monday March 19th at midday AEST here on the blog and on Facebook (I’ll also email you). This will give us time to test out which drills we like.
Submit your entry here:
*ENTRIES ARE FULL AND CLOSED*
Please submit your entry using the formatting above via our Facebook Group. If you’re not a member, request to join first and one of our admins will accept you.
*ENTRIES ARE FULL AND CLOSED*
Entries close Monday March 12th 2018 at midday AEST (note that is an Australian timezone). A maximum of 12 entries per category (12x Finishers and 12x Warm Ups) will be accepted, first in best dressed. This is to stop it from being way too overwhelming in choice for those voting.
During the last competition the entries filled up about 72 hours so make sure you get in fast.
Entries will be posted on the Bootcamp Ideas blog as we get them so the sooner you enter, the more people who will probably see your workout and get to try it out.

Kyle Wood created Bootcamp Ideas in 2010 when he was hunting around on the internet for workout ideas. He ran a successful bootcamp in Victoria, Australia and spends his spare time managing this site, adventuring (or lazying) with his wife and find new ways to make bootcamps even better.
