Our campers spend most of their time dealing with all sorts of adult life stuff. So sometimes it’s on us bootcamp trainers to help remind them of the fun of their youth.
As Easter approaches, this workout can give you an opportunity to take your campers back to a childhood filled egg hunts and trips to meet the Easter bunny.
Candy is, of course, optional!
Most Egg-cellent Easter Workout
Goals: Fun
Duration: 1 hour
Equipment: Cones, Approximately 30-50 plastic Easter eggs with exercises and reps (eg. 25 pushups, 10 burpees, etc) printed out and place inside. You’ll also need a large Easter basket or bag to hold the eggs.
Before the warm-up, spread all the eggs out, ideally on to a grassy area. Or you can hide them – but don’t hide them too well!
Egg Hunt Warm-up
Campers should partner up. One does an exercise on the list below while other goes to retrieve an egg and put it in a group basket or bag. Both partners should do the same exercise 3 times each before moving on to the next exercise. They should not open the eggs at this point.
Warm up exercises:
- High Knees
- Squats
- Jumping Jacks
- Lateral Lunges
- Mountain Climbers
- Push Ups
Reverse Easter Egg Hunt
Campers take turns grabbing an egg from the basket/bag and opening it to reveal the exercise. Everyone in the group does the exercise. When finished, everyone holds plank while person who originally pulled the egg places it back on to the grass or open area. Go until all of the eggs have been pulled.
If you have a larger group, you can split your campers up into teams of 4-5 people to get through the eggs faster.
Rabbit Relay
Time for your campers to bring out their inner Easter bunny!
Set up cones approximately 10-15 meters apart. Make sure nobody places Easter eggs in this area.
Split your campers into teams of 3-5.
Have the teams race each other going through the following sequence of exercises, going across and back before the next person on the team goes:
- Two foot “bunny” hop jumps
- One big broad forward then two little hops back
- Rabbit Hops
Ideally, teams should have the same number of people. If teams have uneven numbers, make sure every team goes as many times as the number of people in the largest team.
Easter Egg Free For All
Everyone individually finds egg and brings it back to mat to do exercise. Everyone does the exercise from the egg they pulled for one minute. Hold plank if finished before others. Then everyone goes out together to get another egg.
Have a Happy (and HOPPY) Easter!

Hi! I’m Robin and I own Power Jam Fitness in Los Angeles, CA. I found my way into training through roller derby, of all things. I’m a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I originally started Power Jam Fitness to help roller derby skaters get proper strength and conditioning training, but now I’m all about helping people of all walks of life discover their own inner athletes. When I’m not training, working out or roller skating, I’m spending time with my husband Michael and Best Cat in the World Olly, enjoying live music, and pretending to be a rock star on the karaoke stage.
