Happy New Year to you!
I’ve been having a bit of down time over the Christmas period to spend time with family and friends.
I think it’s always important to reflect on all the awesome things that happened in the previous year. It’s too easy to put all of our focus and energy into negative things, so take a minute to think about a few things you are thankful for.
I’ll kick us off.
Things I’m happy about in 2013
In my bootcamp we hit record numbers with over 40 people booked in to our 6am class during Spring. Thankfully they didn’t all come on the same days! We also took on a new trainer which allowed me to step back a bit and create some flexibility in my schedule.
Here at Bootcamp Ideas we celebrated two new products, the Fitness Bootcamp Instructor Survival Kit and a new collection of exercises called Beyond Burpees. Bootcamp Ideas also hit 3,000 Facebook likes and now has over 5,000 trainers who receive the weekly workouts.
226,125 people visited Bootcamp Ideas over 2013. But who’s counting?
In my personal life, I got engaged to my lovely Zoe. I travelled to nearly every corner of Australia visiting family and friends and I made a decision that will forever change the course of my life.
How was your year?
Mine sounds a lot more interesting then it felt now I think about it. You will probably also find the same thing.
Plans For 2014
Gee willikers have I got a 2014 for you!
In fact there is so much planned that I will be going into more detail on each of the following at some point this year.
There are a few things I could use your help with though so read on to find out more.
Bootcamp Ideas World Tour
I’m going on tour, hopefully to your town.
My fiancée and I are packing up our stuff here in Melbourne and moving overseas. On the way I want to create a series of trainer get-togethers around the world.
I really want to meet you guys face to face and I think it would be a great opportunity to exchange training ideas.
I’m looking for locals to help me host events in their cities. Hosts will need to help me find a place to have a get together.

What will actually occur at the meet ups will vary depending on the attendees. I may demo some training techniques, we may share one each or it may just be coffee. Which ever it is I’m sure it will be a great experience for all involved.
If you would like to host me or would just like to hang out, shoot me an email.

Free The Bears National Charity Bootcamp
Charity bootcamps are a win-win-win.
Your bootcamp gets awesome publicity, a charity gets money and your clients get a great workout.
One of the trainers who reads this site (a trainer just like you) sent me an email with a crazy idea.
She asked if I could put a call out to trainers in Australia to run a charity bootcamp all on the same day in an effort to raise some awareness and money for a charity she cares deeply about.
The charity is called Free The Bears. Free The Bears is a non-for-profit organisation that is focused on changing the way bears and other wildlife in south-east Asia and India are being treated.
Sadly in these countries, bears are illegally captured and are kept in tiny cages in horrible conditions so that their owners can harvest bile from their gall bladders. Their paws are often cut off so be used in bear paw soup, but the animals are not killed as they are still useful for their bile.
Free The Bears has saved over 800 bears, they have ended the dancing bear trade in India and have financially supported bear sanctuaries around the world.
How you can help:
On March 22nd, 2014 I and other trainers around Australia will be running a special Free the Bears Charity Workout for our bootcampers.
We would like you to join us. I will be helping with workout ideas and tactics for promoting your charity bootcamp.
Send me an email to let me know if you are in or just interested in hearing more. I just need your location and email so I can send you more info closer to the date.
Let’s help this little charity get some attention!

New Tools
Giving you guy’s workouts is great. But workouts are only part of the equation to having a fun, interesting and successful bootcamp business.
So this year I want to start delivering some tools to you to make the other aspects of your business easier. Tools that let you spend more time on the parts of your business that you enjoy and less on the bits that drive you crazy.
Let me know in the comments what is the number one thing you love about running bootcamp and what is the worst thing.
Here’s to an awesome 2014!

Kyle Wood created Bootcamp Ideas in 2010 when he was hunting around on the internet for workout ideas. He ran a successful bootcamp in Victoria, Australia and spends his spare time managing this site, adventuring (or lazying) with his wife and find new ways to make bootcamps even better.
The thing I love about bootcamp is seeing my bootcamper’s get stronger and closer to their goals and seeing the joy on their faces. The thing I like least about it is trying to market my bootcamp with a limited (or non-existent) marketing budget…
